I've kind of written my first Transformers collaboration! superhappyvidel provided plot direction, art, and some jumping-off lines, while I fleshed it out a bit, and I had a blast! It's so wonderful when
perverted great minds seem to run in the same direction.
My first time ever writing in a group was with two of my friends. We were very young, messing around, it was
really cheesy, and a complete disaster. Boredom with the whole idea quickly set in. I can't even remember now if I ever had a chance to add a part. It definitely wasn't Transformers-related. Since then I've never had a whole lot of luck with writing with a partner, but I guess nothing is ever set in stone. I was nervous with submitting my little story, but it was a lot of fun to do.
Randomly, I found some packages of candy the other day that came with cheap plastic toys. Guess who was in two of the packages?
G1 Optimus Prime and Wheeljack! Yes, they were lousy knock-offs of the real things, but I couldn't resist buying Wheeljack. At about a buck and with candy too, how could I lose? The Optimus Prime one was called either "Changing Robot" or "Transforming Robot" and looked mostly like mech-mode Optimus Prime, with most of the same colors and robot body type. It appeared that his alt mode was the same, too. I found them both at a gas station/junk food store, and now I'm wishing I picked up Prime, too.
Wheeljack, on the other hand, sadly does not transform. His package is called, "Race Car", and it came in several different colors. I bought the silver one, as it's the closest to his white body they had. He may not transform, but the car
is a Lancia Stratos Turbo. It's really rare to find a toy car like that anywhere. True, it was the more common rally race version rather than the purely Wheeljack-version race car, of which only two real ones were ever made, but it still is a great match. I'm thinking of painting him in his proper colors, but they may be silly for such a cheap toy. I don't know. Go Lancias!
